Pledge of Allegiance Feedback - Page 1

Jan 14, 2019

Last week we wrote about the court case that was filed in California about the words "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance. Tons of Kidzworld members sent us their thoughts on this controversial case. Take a look at what Kidzworld peeps have to say:

If you look in the constitution, it doesn't say anything about separation of church and state. Just READ IT!!!!!!!

[Editor's Note: Here is the clause in question from the American Bill of Rights; "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances." If you were the judge in the Pledge of Allegiance case, what would your decision have been? ]

I think the Pledge should stay the way it is because the people who think the Pledge should not be in schools are wrong and also every child learns things from God and the Pledge should count as a part of everyone's life.

I think that there is absolutely no reason that the Pledge of Allegiance should be changed. Whether it was just changed to say "under God" in 1954 doesn't make a difference in whether it's a tradition or not. It's a tradition to me because I was not even alive in 1954 to know the other version. If Michael Newdow (or anyone else for that matter) is offended enough to take this case to the Supreme Court, then you would think that the school would excuse his daughter from saying the Pledge. In my opinion, America should not change a well-known tradition because one person disagrees. What will become of us then?

The Pledge of Allegiance is just a little pray to God for us to have a safe and happy life.

I say that people should just leave the Pledge the way it is 'cause it's been that way for a long time and it symbolizes some people's religion, so I say keep it.
